Q: Does the mount have to be installed where it is located in the pictures? I have a toolbox behind the cab of my defender that would interfere with the spare tire.

Q: Once the spare tire mount is on the Defender and the spare tire in place can the whole assembly be removed by a thief, other than removing spare first? Thanks and have a great day!

Q: 2024 can am commander xtp. 15 in beadlock rim with 30 in tires. It is heavy. Do you think this rack strong enough to hold that size/weight of tire? I like the idea but concerned not heavy duty enough.. please let me know. Thanks Steve 515 205 9552

You will want to measure the depth of your bed; I believe the Defender is 12" Deep. the spare tire mount is adjustable to a max of about 4.5" above the bed. You shouldn't have any problem but measure the depth to be sure. If you look the picture on the product page you can see the adjustment is all the way down. That tire is 27" and you can see there is plenty of adjustment to go up to 30".

You can move the mount to other anchors points on your bed as long as you have room for the tire to clear.

The short answer is yes but you can also remove the entire assembly and put the Spare Tire Mount and wheel/tire away in your vehicle so it's not exposed to thieves. Nearly all of our products easily remove with no tools so it's easy to stow them away.
